Caley has designed and built the only adaptable, mobile turntable of its kind for Mooring Systems Ltd.
The 400-tonne modular turntable spooler can handle a wide range of flexible products, including cables, umbilicals, dynamic risers and hoses. The system can be readily configured in either ‘reel’ or ‘basket’ modes, and can be transported on sea and road.
The turntable can deliver approximately 20km (12 miles) of 100mm cable in one batch. It’s dedicated spooling tower and large drum diameter ensures maximum product protection and highly accurate spooling operations.
The combination of a fully integrated Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU), redundant drives and dual redundant braking system significantly reduces mobilization times, allowing the system to be deployed from any port in the UK.
Caley Ocean Systems designs and manufactures offshore handling systems for the international energy, defence, seismic and oceanographic science industries. In addition to its Glasgow-based design facilities, Caley’s has a 25,000sqf manufacturing plant with direct access to the River Clyde. Caley was established in 1968, and became part of Pryme Group in 2021 working alongside IMES, Hydratron, GA Engineering and SengS.
