The Caley Ocean Systems team are delighted to announce that we have been shortlisted for the 2023 Technology Development Award at Global Underwater Hub’s Subsea Expo Awards, for the development of the innovative Pile Fixation Tool, developed in collaboration with Houlder and supported by our parent company, Pryme Group.
The Pile Fixation Tool is a monopile foundation installation support solution that is designed to address stabilisation issues when placing monopile foundations in pre-drilled boreholes in complex seabed conditions.
The system minimises early age cycling and reduce weather and wave limitations to installation. This results in minimised downtime due to severe conditions, therefore lengthening the installation window, increasing efficiency and speed of the installation process, limiting risk of early failure of grouting and reducing initial project and through life costs.
Our customer, Dutch offshore installation company, DEME, successfully deployed the technology to support recent wind turbine foundation installations on the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm in the Loire-Atlantique region of France which is projected to output 480MW from 80 offshore wind turbines.
Simon Wain, our Managing Director comments, “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award. Over the past four years, we have dedicated an extraordinary amount of time and resources to developing innovative engineered solutions for the offshore wind industry. This tool, as well as one of our other developments – the PileProp system – are allowing our customers to complete wind turbine installations far quicker than when conventional installation methods are used”.
“We look forward to attending the awards dinner in February for a night celebrating the best of our industry”.
The awards dinner will take place on the evening of 22nd February 2023 at the P&J Live in Aberdeen, Scotland.
