Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (AUV) Handling System
For most AUVs that cannot be manually lifted at sea, the associated handling system requires either considerable equipment to travel with it or the deployment is limited by what is considered to be safe sea conditions. Drawing on its many years experience of offshore handling, Caley has developed the industry's first, compact and fully self contained, AUV handling system that can be fitted to any suitably rated marine crane.
The AUV system comprises an A-frame assembly, Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) and associated controls. It is designed to be deployed from the Mother Ship in a single operation. Sized for AUVs up to X tonne, the Caley system has been used for a variety of naval defence applications in sea conditions (to seastate 6), at water depths of over 4,000m. The AUV system is fully certified by leading international and maritime classification societies. The compact handling systems can be configured for 'over-the-side' or moonpool operations, and can be configured for complete diverless recovery capability.
