Submarine Rescue Systems

Caley Ocean Systems is a leading supplier of specialist handling systems for submarine rescue applications. The Caley Submarine Rescue Vehicle (SRV) Handling System comprises an A-frame assembly, Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU) and associated controls. The SRV Handling System has facility to launch and recover the SRV. The transfer of the SRV to and from the A frame is via a deck trolley or cradle. The A-frame can be controlled either via the Master Control Panel that is a fixed location on the deck or the Pendant Control Panel.  This enables the operator to walk alongside the Trolley and also to closely view the mating operation between the SRV and TUP.

The A-frame is designed to be lifted to and from the Mother ship in a single operation.  

It incorporates a Swinging Beam Assembly suspended vertically from the top A-frame's Crossbeam on two pivot type bearing pedestals. The assembly includes the Lift Winch, Haul Down Winch, Telescopic Legs, Gimbal Frame and a Maintenance Platform. The Lift Winch handling launch and recovery of the SRV is mounted on the in board face of the Swinging Beam Assembly.

The Lift Winch system has two modes of operation, one mode for normal lifting/lowering of the SRV at full operating pressure and the other maintaining constant tension on the lift wire rope at reduced pressure when connected initially to the SRV prior to recovery. During the fast response Constant Tension mode, the lift wire rope will remain taut with the Winch being capable of rendering/recovery of slack line, until the operator is ready to raise the SRV to the Gimbal Frame docking and latching arrangement. In addition to providing precision control, this system also acts to reduce the vertical displacements between the SRV and the A-frame, making a phased and sympathetic lift-out relatively simple.
