Manned Submersible Handling - Stern A-Frames
The Caley A-frame is recognised as the handling system of choice for operators of ocean research submersibles around the world. With a track record that includes several systems in continuous service for over 30 years and many thousands of successful deployments, the company's submersible handling systems continue to prove their worth time and again.
Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute has been using a Caley A-frame to launch and recover the US Navy's deep submergence vehicle Alvin for nearly 30 years. Now that Alvin is being refitted and upgraded, Caley have been working with Woods Hole and Navsea to do likewise with the handling system for the new Atlantis II research vessel . When complete, it is expected that the system will provide a further 25+ years’ service.
