Caley Winches

Caley has many years knowledge and experience in the design and manufacture of bespoke winches for demanding offshore applications. The winch systems can be hydraulically or electrically driven and are suitable for operation on deck or within a purpose-built winch room. Winches include: Traction, Storage, Umbilicals and Abandonment and Recovery for cable deployment, launch and recovery of ROV and AUV.

Traction Winches use Caley's proven traction winch technology to handle high tension, heavy loads that will produce high resultant side loads. In addition to traction systems, Caley's range of ‘SMART’ winch systems incorporate fully active heave compensation for maximum protection of scientific packages. Special 'Multi-drive' winches are also available for handling synthetic ropes for heavy lift and deepwater mooring applications.

Storage Winches designed for the deployment and recovery of cable, hose and umbilical, the Caley storage winches are custom-built, compact units and range from 2.5 to 5 tonnes pull capacity, and store up to 4,000m of 60mm cable. PLC controlled, the winches provide accurate control and response times. 

Umbilical Winch drives complete with level wind, and adjustable render control for accurate ROV deployment and recovery.

Abandonment and Recovery (A&R Wnches) are available in a wide range of capacities and sizes. The winches are available with hydraulic or electric motors with cable capacity up to 4,000m for loads up to 200 tonne.

Caley has an in house high tension spooling facility that is available to clients who may wish to have their cables pre spooled. This can save operational time and allows the winch and associated level wind to be fully tested.
