High Capacity Carousels, Turntables and Spoolers

Since delivering their first system in the mid ‘90s Caley has established itself as the UK's leading supplier of bespoke, modular carousels, turntables and spoolers for handling a wide range of rigid and flexible pipe products including cables, umbilicals, dynamic risers and  hoses. The company has experience of successfully delivering carousel systems ranging from the world’s largest carousel with a capacity of 9,000 tonnes (OD 32m) through to a 400 tonnes, sea and road transportable, portable modular carousel, and 75 tonne, self-contained spooler and drive systems.

Carousels and Turntables

Carousels and turntables are available in basket (open lattice outer wall, and closed hub for installing partitions) and reel design with either electric or hydraulic drive units together with spooling towers and loading arms, tensioners, cable tracks and the system controls, fully integrated hydraulic power units (HPUs), redundant drives and integral dual redundant braking system and associated equipment. The carousel's dedicated spooling tower and large drum diameter ensure maximum product protection and highly accurate product spooling. This is important to ensure accurate loading and controlled winding of pipe and cable, avoiding 'holes' and ensuring that the wire, for example, isn't damaged when pulled through during unwinding.

Spooling

High capacity large spoolers are a Caley speciality. The combination of spool and discharge path design,and accurate spool and tensioner control allows the spoolers to be used for a wide range of flexible cable, pipe, umbilicals, jumper hoses and synthetic fibre ropes for deepwater mooring.
