Control Systems
Caley Ocean Systems has a dedicated team of control systems specialists, ensuring all its offshore handling systems are optimised for efficient and safe operation.
By applying plant control techniques more commonly found in the manufacturing and production industries to offshore handling projects, Caley is able to significantly improve equipment performance and offshore safety.
Our PLC-based control systems comprise programmed modules which are interlinked to form the control system. This modular approach to programming control allows reuse of logic, enabling speedier control system development; a major improvement over traditional control systems.
Moreover, each block, can be tested offline using a simulator. In the event of a problem, fault finding is easier. The engineer can quickly identify the faulty function block and check it, rather than having to trawl through lots of code.
Modular programming also enables faster commissioning. The traditional 'ladder logic' approach allows some simulation but operators would have to wait until the offshore handling equipment was fully installed before checking the complete control system. The modular approach also allows the control system to be simulated and fully tested on-shore where problems and modifications can be made before the handling equipment is shipped offshore.
